Good luck trying to keep up with what's supposedly healthy in terms of diet and nutrition. Spend any time at all on the internet and you'll find enough conflicting nutrition guidance to baffle Yoda himself. Every time the sun comes up there's a different nutrition "expert" who has a new take on the same topic.

As the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach of the LA Lakers there's a steady parade of nutrition-based food products, programs, or books that come across my desk. Figuring out what's the real deal and what's nonsense can be overwhelming.

As a result of reviewing so many different takes on "good nutrition," my BS radar is on point. When the 1st edition of Deep Nutrition by @drcateshanahan landed on my desk several years ago and I read it, I knew it was the real deal. It was a resource that helped to cut through the nutrition noise instead of adding to it.

Fast forward to now after I've had the opportunity to review the new and expanded edition of Deep Nutrition and the verdict is in: It's the one nutrition book you need!

I cringe when I hear people resign to thinking that health problems, poor performance, chronically feeling like crap, or all of the above are unfortunate genetic fate. If nothing else, this book will help you to realize that you are in control of your health and performance.

You know that I strongly value the relationship between health, performance, and responsible nutrition. Dr. Cate Shanahan and Luke Shanahan have put a resource together in this new book that is backed with overwhelming nutrition science and evidence, uncovers the most dangerous dietary villains, takes the guess work out of eating healthy by giving you a plan, and it will make your relationship with food enjoyable again. #DeepNutrition
