You're going to have cravings for sweets. The secret is to have healthy dessert options on the ready. This honey walnut topping is a great example. Scroll over to see the easy steps to making it.
BENEFITS:
Walnuts are a great source of healthy omega-3 fats. They also have a good dose of vitamin B6 among other vitamins and minerals for immune system strength. Melatonin is another benefit that walnuts bring. The combo of the melatonin and the honey make it a perfect snack before bed. Honey is made up of glucose and fructose. A small spoon of honey before bed will give a slight bump to blood sugar levels and supply the brain with glucose. This can help to set you up for a better sleep. This works best if you keep sugar intake low throughout the day.
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups walnuts
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons raisins
pinch of cinnamon
pinch of sea salt.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Add all ingredients in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave x 30 seconds. Stir until fully mixed. Enjoy with an apple, over yogurt, or by itself.
